SPIRIT OF DEFEAT.

The grasshopper Spirit is a Spirit of \’Defeat\’ [Avoid It].

Numbers 13 :25-33. ( THB)

25. And they returned from spying out the land after forty days. 26. Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. 27. Then they told him, and said: \”We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. 28. Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there. 29. The Amalekites dwell in the land of the South; the Hittites, the Jebusites, and the Amorites dwell in the mountains; and the Canaanites dwell by the sea and along the banks of the Jordan.\” 30. Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, \”Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.\” 31. But the men who had gone up with him said, \”We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.\” 32. And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, \”The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. 33. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.\”

There are good cheering news and there are sad damning news both news are initiated and carried out by man who is an agent of distributing information that is why it is said knowledge is power. The knowledge you have can form you or disform you. No wonder in Hosea the bible informed us that

\”My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children\” (Hosea 4:6). KJV.

When a person doesn\’t know what he should know, he will not be able to put up a good fight to defind himself. The Children of Israel reacted the way they did because of the bad news told them by the people whom they entrusted their believes on as such they believed and trusted in their account of records. Whereas the minority opinion may have cautioned the effects of the majority opinions but people are always carried away by the clinchee \”majority carries the vote\” syndrome.

This shows that despite all the wonders and great manifestation of God\’s presence and all His doings for the Israelites, they still do not know their God, had it been that they remembered any of His great wonders in Egypt both before Pharaoh was able to let the people go and after they had left Egypt particularly at the Red Sea, it would have made the difference. Can you imagine how man forgets so easily after receiving an unmerited favour from you. In any case, Daniel 11:32 says
“…but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits. And they that understand among the people shall instruct many.”

If you do not know what God has done for you and all that He has given you to show appreciation, it may be difficult and by the time it looks as though you are faced with challenges fear steps in and you begin to accept defeat before you start to face your war. Instead of attacking your attackers, you begin to make excuses, complain or belittle yourself by claiming that your ineptness could be as the result of not being prepared or not having the right tools to get the job done.

\”There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.\” (Numbers 13:33).

Can you imagine that type of frightening report? Is there any thing too difficult for God to do? Whenever the devil start it\’s tricks of giving you bad report concerning your situation, bringing in ideas of giants on your way, therefore you should not make any attempt. Scream at the devil and say Go thou behind me. If he brings another idea and said to you, hey! You cannot make it because you were like grasshopper in your own eyes before your enemy shout back at the devil ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

When the devil insisted with weakling attacks of timidity, and make you feel like nobody before a stranger let it be known to it that the righteous is as bold as a lion. If It decided to come as a Goliath of a habitual bad habit which may not take you anywhere, gather yourself together and be tactical enough to sling the hard stone on your Goliath so that you will cause it to fail down and you nip it by the bud (head). There is no problem that doesn\’t has a solution, your best bet is that you go it the right way.

Had the report you heard want to be a stumbling block to your getting to the next level of your life\’s journey? Refused to give in paulse and wait to hear the correct report. Wait unto the Lord and Trust Him For His Word is Yeah And Amen. Cheers! ✍️ Blessing I N Onugha.
