A CLEAN HEART

Psalm 51:7-12

7 Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean [ceremonially]; wash me, and I shall [in reality] be whiter than snow.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness and be satisfied; let the bones which You have broken rejoice.

9 Hide Your face from my sins and blot out all my guilt and iniquities
10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right, persevering, and steadfast spirit within me.

11 Cast me not away from Your presence and take not Your Holy Spirit from me.

12 Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Psalm 51 was written by King David after being informed by Prophet Nathan about God\’s judgement concerning his adultary escapade with Uriah\’s wife Bathsheba and the circumstances that led to the death of Uriah. (2Samuel11:1-26) and (2Samuel 12: 1-14)

\”For you do not desire sacrifice or else I would give it, you do not delight in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit, a broken and a contrite heart these, O God, you will not despise\”.(Psalm 51:16-17).

A clean heart is what we need to do right, to live a godly life, it is in the heart every thought is imagined, whether of evil or of good. That\’s why the word of God says we should guide our heart with all diligence for out of it lies issues of life.

David realized his mistakes and within him he remembered his struggles that particular eventful day when he acted borne out of beclouded heart which lured him into sinning. When his sins were laid bare before him, he saw the human nature of a man who will always be in a haste to judge others while covering his own sin and shame in silence thinking that his own sin that was committed behind the scene can be buried without anybody\’s knowledge about his own struggles.

3 \”When the scribes and Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery. They made her stand in the middle of the court and put the case before Him.

4 Teacher, they said, This woman has been caught in the very act of adultery.

5 Now Moses in the Law commanded us that such [women–offenders] shall be stoned to death. But what do You say [to do with her–what is Your sentence]?

6 This they said to try (test) Him, hoping they might find a charge on which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger.

7 However, when they persisted with their question, He raised Himself up and said, Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her\”. (John 8:3-7).

The book of John demonstrated the exact behaverial pattern of true hypocrites who thought they can always hide under the covers of the rules or the laws of the area to unlesh wickedness on an unsuspected victim and when he who sees in secret \”Jesus Christ\” put their \”holier than thou\” attitude to test they fail short of the correct measure for righteousness, then it hit them below the belt as their pretence could not cover their sins after all.

Yeah! Very easy to exonerate yourself from blames, very easy to claim being upright but in the true sense we are wolf in sheep\’s skin. We need a clean heart free from prejudices. We need a heart of sorberity to reflect on the right values of life so that we can not wrong our fellow man. We need clean heart when we are faced with temptation so that we may adjudged the situation aright in other to overcome such situations. We need a clean heart to overcome Satan and his manipulative antics when we are alone. We need a contrite heart and a broken spirit to please God not our numerous sacrifices with defiled heart that will please Him or our self acclaimed righteousness.

Keep yourself in check not to cause others to stumble due to your misjudgment. Be a doer of the word not hearer only and by so doing deceiving yourselves.

Happy new month and remain blessed all through the ember months
