GREAT CLOUD OF WITNESSES

Hebrews 12:1-2

1. Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses,

let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2. Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

Witness is referred to as someone who sees an event and reports what happened. The bible is reminding us of great number of people who watches over us to see and monitor all our activities whether good or bad and takes record of them.

These people are everywhere no man is an island of it\’s own, nobody lives in isolation of others that\’s why we should be mindful of the lives we live for there are onlookers who are regarded as great cloud of witnesses.

let us lay aside every weight;
or burden; every sin, which is a weight and burden to a sensible Christian, and also a hinderance in running the Christian race; not just dwelling in sin, but every actual transgression, therefore to be laid aside; because it\’s a burden, it should be laid on the cross where Jesus was nailed for our sins.

We should endeavor to abstain from doing evil for it has a terrible convequenceses . Worldly cares, riches, and pursuit of earthly wealth at the expense of other people\’s comfort can lead to heavy weight which may depressed the mind and lead to a great hinderance in the work and services of God, and therefore shall be laid aside.

likewise the rites and ceremonies of Moses\’s law were a weight and burden, a yoke of bondage, and an intolerable one, and with which many believing Jews were entangled and pressed, and which were a great hinderance in the performance of evangelical worship; wherefore the exhortation to these Hebrews, to lay them aside, was very proper and pertinent, since they were useless and incommodious, and there had been a disannulling of them by Christ, because of their weakness and unprofitableness
of the law of Moses when the Messiah final came through uncommon means which was not predicted according to the Messiaic order despite all the teachings and the miracles performed by Jesus Christ they still could not understood the Narratives of the birth, lives and the crucifix of Jesus Christ.

Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, these cloud of witnesses as early mentioned also could be angles whose eyes moves like a clock watching and taken record of everyone\’s performance for instance the heros of faith recorded in Hebrews chapter 11 verses 4-38. wouldn\’t have been possible because someone recorded their lives and activities while on Earth which earned them such reputation for them to be ascribed such honours and regarded as the heros of that generation Even beyond the scope of their operation. It was said that due to their great faith God was pleased with them.

Whatever we do we should be sensible believing that nothing is hidden that cannot be made known by God even when you think you are hiding under the cover of darkness even gross darkness is like light before him

139:11 If I say, Surely the darkness shall cover me and the night shall be [the only] light about me,

139:12 Even the darkness hides nothing from You, but the night shines as the day; the darkness and the light are both alike to You. (Psalm 139:11-12). Ampl B.
