Colossians 2:8-18. (Nkjv).
8. Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9. For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10. and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. 11. In Him you were also circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ, 12. buried with Him in baptism, in which you also were raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. 13. And you, being dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He has made alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, 14. having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. 15. Having disarmed principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in it. 16. So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, 17. which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. 18. Let no one cheat you of your reward, taking delight in false humility and worship of angels, intruding into those things which he has not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind.
We are in the era of too many doctrines and prophesies. You open the social media or even your T V set you hear a whole form of preachings oozing out from preachers that are bound to confuse or disorganize the Listeners more so when you are a good bible scholar, knowing the word of God concerning some issues in question you begin to doubt whether the speaker is of God or representing himself. We all are in one way or the other influenced by our leaders or those who teach us either in schools or in churches yet sometimes they may act in such a manner you begin to doubt their authorities if you too is knowledgeable enough to understand times and events.
Sometimes ago I decided for some reasons to attend the church in the government house of my state since I was staying near by as at then, in other words I did not go to my place of worship for few Sundays because I joined my governor his Excellency and family, the Distinguished Senator, Owelle Rochas Okorocha at the Victory Chapel, Government House Chapel for the church services around January 2019. My pastor called one afternoon and queried \”sister, why have you not come to church all these while;are you quarelling with God\”? I said how sir; he said don\’t you know that a true child of God is not supposed to be absent in any of the church programs, that\’s a sin to forsake the gathering of brethren. I paused and finally said sir, since you did not want to ask exactly what happened I will only say that I\’m glad I have a very good relationship with my God and cannot be talked down about that fact. Immediately he cuts off the phone from my ear.
At my end I did not fancy such insunations at all however I encouraged myself not to put that in mind so that I don\’t misguide my mind.
In Colossians 4:5-6. (Nkjv). \”Walk in wisdom toward those who are outside, redeeming the time. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one\”.
James the apostle echoed it in his writing to the body of Christ in the book of James 1:26-27
\”Anyone who says he is a Christian but doesn’t control his sharp tongue is just fooling himself, and his religion isn’t worth much.
The Christian who is pure and without fault, from God the Father’s point of view, is the one who takes care of orphans and widows, and who remains true to the Lord—not soiled and dirtied by his contacts with the world\”.
We ought to know how to answer everyone so that our words will be edifying instead of condemning. For all stumble in many things; \”if anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man able also to bridle the whole body\” James 3:2.
2 John 1:8-11
[8]Beware of being like them and losing the prize that you and I have been working so hard to get. See to it that you win your full reward from the Lord.
[9]For if you wander beyond the teaching of Christ, you will leave God behind; while if you are loyal to Christ’s teachings, you will have God too. Then you will have both the Father and the Son.
[10]If anyone comes to teach you, and he doesn’t believe what Christ taught, don’t even invite him into your home. Don’t encourage him in any way.
[11]If you do, you will be a partner with him in his wickedness.
Our race of heavenly bliss is not of man to praise and to reward us rather doing what is pleasing before God and to do His will for God\’s reward is eternal and fulfilling. Thanks for reading!
