On this glorious Easter Sunday, I pray that we find joy in one of the most significant quote from the scriptures in Matthew 28:6 \”He is not here, for He is Risen as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay\”.
Though, l walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I fear no evil because Christ lives I can see tomorrow.
Easter Sunday has always been celebrated right from the time of old as the day Jesus Christ our saviour resurrected from death having been in the grave for the past 3days, since good Friday when He was brutalized and was made sin that our sins may be forgiven.
In those good old times many churches will be decorated in honour and adoration of the first begotten son from death. Some churches may decide to celebrate holy Communion in a special way as a mark of taken his blood and His body in remembrance of Him. While others may want to observe a sacrament of baptism which is a symbol of new life in Christ. AND some others may consider that time as [Let\’s go a fishing] which is a doctrian way of going for Evengalizm; to get more fellowership as well as time for sharing or exchange of gifts.
It is a time Christians celebrate their being free from bondage, no more under the curse of sin and death. He who the son of God has set free is free indeed.
Very sad to notice that in all these celebrations and the grandeur of Easter, all of them fizzle out just because of the Coronavirus Pandemic. However there\’s Hope for those of us who died with Him and has risen with Him according to 1peter 1:3-4 says
[3] \”All honor to God, the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ; for it is his boundless mercy that has given us the privilege of being born again so that we are now members of God’s own family. Now we live in the hope of eternal life because Christ rose again from the dead.
[4]And God has reserved for his children the priceless gift of eternal life; it is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay\”.
What then can we say now about the churches; Is the church just a building or the people that go in there to worship are the church.
The churches all over the world are mostly designed with the best architectural designs and expensively furnished and today people are restricted from going in there for worship. I know it is but for a short while. That was why Jesus answered the Samaritan woman that very soon a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem. A time will come, however, indeed it is already here, when the true (genuine) worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth (reality); for the Father is seeking just such people as these as His worshipers. (John 4:21-23).
Are churches the real dwelling place of God Almighty? Or our bodies which is the temple of God? Basically, the dwelling place of God is our bodies not the churches though we are not supposed to forsake the coming together of brethren. But if we are going to argue that church is the dwelling place of God only; what then happens since 2-3 weeks lockdown which includes the churches, does it mean individuals can no longer pray in his closet and the prayers will not be heard and answered. I know for certain that since the long garm, people have locked themselves inside and resorted to God and fervently have been seeking His face to heal the entire world of this deadly plague and to forgive our numerous sins.
God cares only for our spirit. Thus, the Bible tells us that, individually, our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. This means that God dwells in us (1 Cor. 6:19; Eph. 2:22). Corporately, the church is God’s house, God’s dwelling place. This means that God dwells in the church (1 Tim. 3:15). Therefore, the church is not a physical building for religious worship.
As children of God, we must realize that all physical things will eventually be destroyed. We should build only the things that are spiritual. Remember that churches are built for Christian to always gather in praises to God with their musical instruments like, a grand piano, then having a beautiful pulpit, We should not attach so much to those physical things. The church does not necessarily receive more of God’s blessings by having a splendid building. Rather, when the church has the presence of God with His life, power, and strength, this is really God’s blessing. Sometimes the believers have a desire to meet outdoors, but some are concerned about not having a podium or a piano. Actually, in the beginning the church did not have these things. Physical things are not essential because what we are building is not something physical but something spiritual for people to be strengthened from within. This is God’s intention.
Therefore, since He has risen today and I know He lives forever more, we are risen with Him and shall not die because of any form of virus because He has conquered death for our sake.
May the same Spirit of Him Who raised up Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He Who raised up Christ Jesus from the dead will also restore to life your mortal and perishable bodies through His Spirit Who dwells in you 🙏. ✍️ Blessingonugha ❤️.
