GOOD COURAGE.

Deuteronomy 31:6-7

6 Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the LORD your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.\”
7 Then Moses summoned Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, \”Be strong and courageous, for you shall go with this people into the land that the LORD has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall put them in possession of it. (Deuteronomy 31:6, ESV)

Courage is a mental or moral strength to venture or persevere and withstand danger, fear or difficulty. There are different forms of courage; Physical, Moral , Emotional, Intellectual, and spiritual courage to mention just a few of them.

The honest truth is that courage resides inside all of us dormant if is not awaken but all you need to do is to embrace and activate it then bring it alive to function in you. People are endowed differently as far as being courageous is concern; some people are physically better in exhibiting physical strength with resilience in moving on to face challenges head long with bold face while others may not display physical strength but are very strong emotionally or mentally when faced with challenges whether positively or negatively, they may not nurse any fear in tactically pursuing the course they believe in without feeling of guilt.

Some people are very strong and courageous intellectually and can maneuver task intelligently. These ones subject themselves to the willful power of learning and relearning with an open heart to be in charge of their situations. Spiritual courage is to acquire hindsight and discerning things, always living with purpose and a heart deliberate to be incline in spiritual wisdom.

Courage is the first of human qualities that guarantees other human endeavors Aristotle declared that “Courage is the mother of all ventures because without it you cannot consistently perform the others”.

To be courageous takes persistence practice, the more you face and deal with your fears the better informed and strong you will be. Courage obviously as we know is not absence of fear because people who are bold and courageous still have their frightening moments but know how to manage their fears to take appropriate action.

Courage, I was once told is a highly prized virtue, when you see courageous people, they\’re people with swag very articulate and bold to face issues even in the face of what others may consider dangerous, they are risk bearers will always proffer solution to problems without surrendering to opposition.

Joab the leader of the army of Israel under king David encouraged his fellow soldiers not to faint or be discouraged to fight their enemies back for them to be victorious in the battle they are facing. 2Samuel 10:12 \”Be strong and courageous! Let\’s fight hard for our people and for the cities of our God. And may the Lord\’s will be done!”

“COURAGE IS WHAT IT TAKES TO STAND UP AND SPEAK , COURAGE IS ALSO WHAT IT TAKES TO SIT DOWN AND LISTEN. ~ Winston Churchill.

King David instructed his son Solomon not to be frightened about the size of the tasks he must cover as a king in building the temple of God And David said to his son Solomon, “Be strong and of good courage, and do it; do not fear nor be dismayed, for the Lord God—my God—will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you, until you have finished all the work for the service of the house of the Lord.
(1 Chronicles 28 : 20).

Fear can immobilize us when face with huge responsibility or face a high risky job or the pressure associated with such risk makes us to freeze and do nothing. One of the Remedies To fear is to focus at the joy of taking a well targeted action not on the fear itself. Most time we think that the road to success is through connection to influential people- Not really. There are strategies and skills required to be successful and these God knows too well and will always want us to imbibe in such skill.

To be courage is a good skill to possess in any of the types, if you must win in a battle. No wonder God say to Joshua “Only be thou strong and of a good courage for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land ,which I sware unto their fathers to give them” (Joshua 1:6).

God knows that the challenges ahead of them are enamous and requires strategic weapon to successfully dispossess the land from the original occupants if they most possess their possessions. For our weapons of warfare is not canal but strong and mighty to the pulling down of every stronghold ~ (see 2Corinthians10:4).

Repeatedly God reminded Joshua of His commandment to be of good courage so that he will not fall into the tricks of discouragement in carrying out what he ought to do in making sure that all Israelites are settled in their new abode (see Joshua 1:6-9).

Joshua 1:6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
Joshua 1:7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.
Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

Be strong and of good courage or be courageous have been repeated in several verses of the Bible and each time it was said for serious emphasis meaning [ hay! you must make haste while the sun shine] “paraphrase” I think it has to do with boosting of morale or encouraging the informed that though the task is difficult but you can do it without fail. The psalmist in psalm 27:14 says “Wait on the Lord, Be of good courage and He shall strengthen your heart, wait I say on the Lord”.

Be of good courage is a good advice enough to encourage and strengthen you to take good stand in the face of stiff challenges and awaken the lion in you for the scriptures says that the righteous is as bold as a lion. It drives fear and timidity out of you. \”For He has not given us the spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love and self discipline\” (see 2Timothy 1:7).

Our response when we go through hard times is also important to note how spiritual ready and courage we have attained to face our battles squarely without running from Pillar to post seeking for help in every corner without seeking the face of the Lord on that matter yourself.. Daniel 10:19 And he said, O man greatly loved, fear not, peace be with you; be strong and of good courage. And as he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, Let my lord speak, for you have strengthened me

We can not be overcomer without passing through troubled periods in life, at that moment be true and honest to God in your hard times because God will turn even our worst situation for our good so be strong and of good courage.

Do not let your hands be weak for your act of hard labour shall be rewarded so wait on the Lord be strong and let your heart take courage as you wait on the Lord.

Happy Reading Be Strong and Courageous. Amen
