Galatians 5:13-15. NKJV.
It is absolutely clear that God has called you to a free life. Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom. If you bite and ravage each other, watch out—in no time at all you will be annihilating each other, and where will your precious freedom be then?
Apostle Paul distinguished freedom between freedom to sin and freedom to serve for the christians in Galatian. He told them that because you\’re called onto liberty doesn\’t give you the licence to behave and continue to live a reckless life style which will enslave them to sin rather in contrast Christians should live a life that makes them free from enslavement to satanic vices and do the right thing which glorifies God and love for others.
When we lose motivation for Love to others, we become critical of others and begin to look out for faults as such lose unity of purpose. We start to backbite and tell lies, blackmailing behind someone\’s back which is a deservice to your neighbour according to the scriptures about the Love for others as you Love your self. Matthew 22:39.
Have you been focusing on others shortcomings instead of their strength or the good in them. When you begin to feel critical about someone or you despised someone for a wrong doing why not pulse to list down the person\’s positive qualities and the good you once known her for before drawing your conclusion and when there\’s problem that needs to be address confront in love rather than gossip or assassinate the person\’s character based on anger or hear say.
When the rich young man who was seeking for assurance of eternal life came to Jesus to inquire of Him what he can do to earn salvation and Jesus pointed out to him that salvation does not come from good deeds which does not have Love to God and Love to Man as a basic foundation.
16. The rich young man came to Jesus with this question \”Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life. 17. Why ask me about what is good? Jesus replied \”There is only one who is good. But to answer your question _ if you want to receive eternal life, keep the commandments 18. Which ones, the man asked. And Jesus replied You must not Murder, You must not commit adultery, You must not testify falsely. 19. Honour Your father and mother. Love Your neighbor as Yourself\”. (Matthew 19:16-19) NLT
Yeah! Honouring our parents also is one of those commandments that are sacrosanct in the laws of both God and man which has a promise attached to it as seen in the bible.
“Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you\”. (Exodus 20:12)
When Jesus Christ scrutinized the rich young man that came to him to inquire on how to inherit eternal life. He wants to be sure that the young man deserved to inherit eternal life indeed not because of self righteousness rather for obeying a laid down rules. Therefore, Jesus Christ put him to test to find out if he still respect and honor his parents irrespective of his accomplishments and if he\’s not high headed of the fact that he\’s enlightened and as such respect to old age or parents in particular has gone awashed like some people claimed; [Old School]
The scripture says “There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers; those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth; those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful\” (proverbs 30:11-13).
There are lots of indiscipline going on now even amongst family members in the name of \”FREEDOM\” Some people will tell you(I am at liberty to live my life the way I want, not anybody\’s business) claiming of being exposed to different lifestyles so they have no fear to say what they want to say or regards to anybody forgetting that there are rules and principles that guides \”LIVING\” of life.
It is getting disheartening where in a family, almost on a frequent bases you hear a son raised his voice with impunity to abused and cursed his father easily without being disturb of what may be the consequences if not now but in near future. Constant disregards and dishonor to his father even in the public places calling him names, always at war in any slightest provocation and ready to fight anybody that intervened.
A lady, a deaconess in one of the new generation churches went to her father\’s compand just for a qurrel that lead to a fight between her and her younger sister (Amaka) picked up sand removed her footwear and raised the sand up over her head and declared curses against her father for not cautioning her younger sister when she was being abused by the junior one, honestly I cringed as the story was being narrated by the younger sister in the presence of her sister who actually gave her the beating of her life with her dress shredded by the same deaconess as she claimed yet no remorse.
\”By the blessing of the upright a city is exalted, but by the mouth of the wicked it is overthrown\”. (Proverbs 11:11) The word of God is Yea and Amen. It cannot be broken; some people through their actions have destroy a good relationship built up long ago in the name of FREEDOM. Nations or families could be built by a well planned process and well respected but by the actions of oppressors and oppositions all the efforts will be ruined just because of BITTERNESS and UNFORGIVENESS.
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace may abound? By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? (Romans 6:1-2). NIV
A young lady who lives abroad called an Arch Bishop of an Anglican Comminuon Church of God mission from Abroad to report her father to the Bishop who apparently is the head of the entire Anglican Communion Church, her father who also is a Knight well over Forty (40) years of ordination into knighthood in the same Church, for a false accusations labelled against her father by her other siblings at home without calling her father for verification or any other independent person around to find out the exact true position. Her very first and quickest intervention was to called the head of the body of knights in her state from Abroad to tarnish a very good image her father had built for a long time as a leader in the church who has been adjudged faithful and fervent in the body of christ and he is known for his uprightness in his community when it matters. What an error in the name of FREEDOM and \”boldness\” wrongly channeled.
Apostle Paul advised the Galatians \”Just make sure that you don’t use this freedom as an excuse to do whatever you want to do and destroy your freedom. Rather, use your freedom to serve one another in love; that’s how freedom grows. For everything we know about God’s Word is summed up in a single sentence: Love others as you love yourself. That’s an act of true freedom\”. This advise is also for all of us; we should use our freedom to build bridges not to burn bridges. We should use our freedom to sow seeds of love not hatred and acrimony. The evil we do today will catch up with us tomorrow while we are still here not when we are gone.
