Proverbs 10:11-14. NIV.
11 The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but the mouth of the wicked conceals violence. 12 Hatred stirs up conflict, but love covers over all wrongs. 13 Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of one who has no sense 14 The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin.
A righteous person is concerned with speaking words that give life and encourage the hearer. They who are wicked are only concerned with inciting violence and hurting anyone in their way. As Christian, you need to make sure that the words that leave your mouth are edifying, inspiring, and uplifting.
The scripture advised us to bridle our tongue because if we do not sin with our tongue we are perfect in deed. We can control what happens around us and our bodies by controlling what comes out of our mouth.
The Bible describe the tongue as a bush fire that can spark off within seconds just a little part and consumes the entire forest. The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. And the tongue is like a fire. It is a whole world of evil among the parts of our bodies. The tongue spreads its evil through the whole body. The tongue is set on fire by hell, and it starts a fire that influences all of life.
The gentle tongue instructs, speaking wisdom, with words that fit each situation, like apples of gold in a silver setting. With a soft answer that turns away wrath, the gentle tongue is merry, doing good to the hearer like medicine to the sick. Those that imagine evil, under colour of friendship, have their hearts full of this and they already have thought it before speaking it out.
Every word altered is an imagination of the mind and out of the good treasure of the godly man comes out that which is good so is the same with the mind of a wicked man comes out an evil thought. Words are like bullet the moment it goes off cannot be retrieve until it hits it\’s target. It is with the mouth one blesses another one and it is with the same mouth curse comes from but the scriptures says that clean and bad water can not come out from the same fountain.
\”Does a fountain send forth [simultaneously] from the same opening fresh water and bitter? (James 3:11).
The tongue is a powerful tool that gets what it desires. The Pentecostal churches knows exactly what it means to use the tongue to command any thing as such encourages their members to speak in tongues during prayers in order to communicate with God. Pentecostal churches also believe that speaking in tongues is a sign that the Holy Spirit has filled a person\’s body after they have been baptized and accepted Jesus Christ.
The power in your tongue is ruled by your choice. Humans are the only creation of God that have the ability to choose their words. However, in proverbs 18: 21 says \”Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they who indulge in it shall eat the fruit of it [for death or life].
The use of your tongue is purely your choice however you choose to use it, you got to own it as your responsibility and it must be accounted for. The wise store up knowledge, but the mouth of a fool invites ruin. Use your month in a godly way for edifying others with soothing words that heals wounds and builds up not with words that is destructive.

Powerful word, my sister. The tongue is like a weapon and we must use it carefully. Thank you for this timely reminder.
