PRIDE AND HUMILITY.

Philippines 2:1-4 NCBV.

Does your life in Christ give you strength? Does his love comfort you? Do we share together in the spirit? Do you have mercy and kindness? If so, make me very happy by having the same thoughts, sharing the same love, and having one mind and purpose. When you do things, do not let selfishness or pride be your guide. Instead, be humble and give more honor to others than to yourselves. Do not be interested only in your own life, but be interested in the lives of others.

Pride and humility are two words that are used in contrast to each other, their difference is in their meaning while PRIDE means one having an excessive high opinion of his self worth, HUMILITY means one having a modest view of himself or placing others more important than self.

However, the Dictionary definition of Humility is the quality of having a modest or low view of one\’s importance and Pride is defined as a feeling of deep pleasure or satisfaction derived from one\’s own achievement.

\”When swelling and pride come, then emptiness and shame come also, but with the humble (those who are lowly, who have been pruned or chiseled by trial, and renounce self) are skillful and godly Wisdom and soundness\” (Proverbs 11:2) AMP.

Respect for the Lord will teach you wisdom. If you want to be honored, you must be humble. A man’s heart is the proudest when his downfall is nearest,
for he won’t see glory until the Lord sees humility. By humility and the fear of the Lord Are riches and honor and life. A man\’s pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor.

There are six things the Lord hates.
There are seven things he cannot stand:
a proud look,
a lying tongue,
hands that kill innocent people,
a mind that thinks up evil plans,
feet that are quick to do evil,
a witness who lies,
and someone who starts arguments among families. (Proverbs 6:16-19).

A humble person is one who follows God\’s instructions instead of leaning on his own understanding. Being humble does not mean being stupid or a loser. A humble person has a proper relationship with God and she\’s at peace when dealing with people.

A humble person is one who will prefer to be wronged instead of doing wrong . \”Now therefore, it is already an utter failure for you that you go to law against one another. Why do you not rather accept wrong? Why do you not rather let yourselves be cheated?\” 1Corinthians 6:7.

Pride will bring you down the ladder while Humility will exalt you high. \”All those who lift themselves up will be made humble. And those who make themselves humble will be lifted up.” Luke 14:11. You must have to be humble in front of the Lord; And he will lift you up.

Therefore humble yourselves [demote, lower yourselves in your own estimation] under the mighty hand of God, that in due time He may exalt you. It is very difficult to work with a proud person because of his High conceited opinion of himself, you must be of a patient and of a lowly spirit to get around the pride but a humble person is considerate of others as such will encourage you to get a task done. In any case the value of a man is not on what he possessed but on the value he attached to others and the impact he has attracted to people around him. Make it your duty to be fair minded when you\’re dealing with others and be humble.
