29 When Jesus and his followers were leaving Jericho, a large crowd followed him.
30 There were two blind men sitting by the road. They heard that Jesus was coming by. So they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, please help us!”
31 The people there criticized the blind men and told them to be quiet. But they shouted more and more, “Lord, Son of David, please help us!”
32 Jesus stopped and said to them, “What do you want me to do for you?”
33 They answered, “Lord, we want to be able to see.”
In today’s Bible reading, Jesus asked the two blind men, “What do you want me to do for you\”? They wisely responded, “Lord, that our eyes may be opened.” Consequently, Jesus compassionately touched them and they received their sight.
The Lord will have compassion on you at any moment you\’re in need, provided you sincerely tell Him what you desire from Him. There is no impossibility with God; He will surely meet your expectations.
In the book of Luke 11 reading from verse 8 Jesus Christ in His teaching of being persistence in asking told them a story of a wicked judge who do not regard man or have fear of God but it happened that a widow who needed judgement for a wrong metted out on her persevered in coming to him to ask for judgement but the judge was touched by the widow\’s perseverance in coming to him to asked for judgement and it was granted her and as such Jesus Christ said to His listeners
9 \”So I tell you, continue to ask, and God will give to you. Continue to search, and you will find. Continue to knock, and the door will open for you.
11 Do any of you have a son? What would you do if your son asked you for a fish? Would any father give him a snake?
Do you know that most times people do not know how to channel their problem (s) right, at times they might not even ask due to shyness or perhaps they feel too big to ask or assumed it\’s their birth right to get whatever they want to get without requesting for that, and that\’s the reason they miss out. This is the case of the prodigal son and his elder brother as was recorded in Luke 15:11-32
It was in the presence of the elder son that his younger brother foolishly asked for his share of their father’s inheritance and it was granted him, then he went away to squander it. The older son kept on working faithfully in his father’s business but never bothered to ask for anything meaningful to celebrate with his friends, even though he desired to do so. The reason he did not ask was because he chose to feign spirituality and modesty. His inward nature and desires came to the fore when his younger brother returned in repentance, and their father forgave him and even celebrated the occasion by killing the fattest cow his older brother had been grooming! Probably he had been planning to ask his father to let him have the cow to celebrate a special occasion. Unfortunately for him, the cow was used to celebrate a lost son who was found!.
Luke 15:28-30 captures his reaction to this, and his saying;
“And he was angry, and would not go in: therefore came his father out, and intreated him. And he answering said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment: and yet thou never gavest me a kid, that I might make merry with my friends: But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.”
In response, his father reminded him that all he had was his. In other words, if he asked, he would have received whatever he wanted. The bottom line here is that the older son neither knew what he wanted nor his place in his father’s household. He was even asking for just a little goat out of all his father had, which actually belonged to him! Can you imagine that?.
\”Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name; ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full\” ( John 16:24 ).
Be bold and specific when it matters most concerning your needs and who you channel your problems to. Always ask right and promptly for it shall be well with you in Jesus mighty name🙏 ✍️ Blessing I N Onugha.
