TROUBLED BUT NOT SHAKEN.

2 Corinthians 4:8-18 (KJV)

8 We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair;

9 Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed;

10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body.

11 For we which live are always delivered unto death for Jesus\’ sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh.

12 So then death worketh in us, but life in you.

13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

14 Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you.

15 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God.

16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day.

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.

In our walk with God, we must never lose sight of the fact that we are mere mortals saved and empowered by grace of God.

In 2corinthians 4 reading from verse 8 ; Apostle Paul narrated how hard-pressed it was for them in every angle yet they did not gave up in the pursuit of seeking the Lord and in the righteousness of fellowing Jesus Christ not minding the dangers they are exposed to as followers of Christ, it doesn\’t perturbed them a bit whether their outward man was perishing or not, their confident was that their inward man was being renewed day by day.

Those who arrogate the power and capabilities of God to themselves end up being disappointed when faced with the reality of their own limitations and inadequacies. Such people find it hard to forgive themselves when they make mistakes, and this is a dangerous place to be in. Those who remain down after falling from grace are, more often than not, are those who can’t forgive themselves for the errors they made.

We must always remember that we need Jesus as our all in all. He Himself said that we can do nothing without Him, As we go through life, things will happen that might shake our faith, but what is important is that our faith remains unshaken. Some of those who have gone ahead of us also had their faith shaken, but because they remained unshakable that\’s why we are celebrating them as heroes of faith today in our own time.

In the book of John 1:32-36. John the Baptist bore witness concerning Jesus Christ the great Messiah who is endowed with the Holy Spirit that will do greater things than him is coming and will deliver the people from every bondage. He clearly knew who Jesus was and what he was talking about because it was revealed to him by our father in heaven. Many of those who heard his declarations about Jesus Christ believed him and followed Jesus, including some of his own disciples (John 1:35-42).

However, we see a sobering turn of events in his life. This same John the Baptist was asking if Jesus was the Messiah! Prior to this, he had been cast into prison and faced the risk of being executed. While in prison, he heard of the mighty works Jesus was doing, which pointed to the fact that He was the long-awaited deliverer of Israel. He therefore expected that Jesus would use His Messianic authority to free him, from his incarceration since he was unjustily detained and also he was the forerunner of Jesus Christ as such he was not supposed to remain in such an undignifying situation without Jesus doing something about it

Discouraged and perplexed, John sent two of his disciples to ask Jesus whether He really was the Messiah, for Israel’s Saviour would surely not have allowed him remain incarcerated for speaking the truth! John’s faith in Jesus was indeed badly shaken. Nevertheless, knowing what it is to be human, Jesus did not rebuke John; rather, He answered his questions in a way John would understand as a prophet. This steadied his faith to the very end. ( Matthew 11:1-6).

Is your faith in Jesus Christ being shaken? I pray that God will uphold you as you go through that trial of faith today, In Jesus Name🙏.Have faith in God and remain steadfast in Him.
