BE A MAN OF ACTION, UP AND DOING IN 2020.

1 Samuel 30:1-19

1. Now it happened, when David and his men came to Ziklag, on the third day, that the Amalekites had invaded the South and Ziklag, attacked Ziklag and burned it with fire, 2. and had taken captive the women and those who were there, from small to great; they did not kill anyone, but carried them away and went their way. 3. So David and his men came to the city, and there it was, burned with fire; and their wives, their sons, and their daughters had been taken captive. 4. Then David and the people who were with him lifted up their voices and wept, until they had no more power to weep. 5. And David\’s two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the widow of Nabal the Carmelite, had been taken captive. 6. Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and his daughters. But David strengthened himself in the Lord his God. 7. Then David said to Abiathar the priest, Ahimelech\’s son, \”Please bring the ephod here to me.\” And Abiathar brought the ephod to David. 8. So David inquired of the Lord, saying, \”Shall I pursue this troop? Shall I overtake them?\” And He answered him, \”Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all.\” 9. So David went, he and the six hundred men who were with him, and came to the Brook Besor, where those stayed who were left behind. 10. But David pursued, he and four hundred men; for two hundred stayed behind, who were so weary that they could not cross the Brook Besor. 11. Then they found an Egyptian in the field, and brought him to David; and they gave him bread and he ate, and they let him drink water. 12. And they gave him a piece of a cake of figs and two clusters of raisins. So when he had eaten, his strength came back to him; for he had eaten no bread nor drunk water for three days and three nights. 13. Then David said to him, \”To whom do you belong, and where are you from?\” And he said, \”I am a young man from Egypt, servant of an Amalekite; and my master left me behind, because three days ago I fell sick. 14. We made an invasion of the southern area of the Cherethites, in the territory which belongs to Judah, and of the southern area of Caleb; and we burned Ziklag with fire.\” 15. And David said to him, \”Can you take me down to this troop?\” So he said, \”Swear to me by God that you will neither kill me nor deliver me into the hands of my master, and I will take you down to this troop.\” 16. And when he had brought him down, there they were, spread out over all the land, eating and drinking and dancing, because of all the great spoil which they had taken from the land of the Philistines and from the land of Judah. 17. Then David attacked them from twilight until the evening of the next day. Not a man of them escaped, except four hundred young men who rode on camels and fled. 18. So David recovered all that the Amalekites had carried away, and David rescued his two wives. 19. And nothing of theirs was lacking, either small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything which they had taken from them; David recovered all.

When David inquired of the Lord, the LORD answered him \”Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail to recover all\”. It is on the strength of that assurance from God that David and his men had to pursue their enemies.

Wishful thinking or wishing for something does not produce the results we desire, but we must aggressively do what needs to be done to achieve them. We will never find a successful man who spent his life wishing for success that attains it. The same principle applies to loving God, loving ourĀselves, and loving others. If we want to love people as Jesus instructed, we will have to do so on purposeful action. Nothing is done or happen by accident without putting in action to propel it to happen.

When David and his men arrived Ziklag and noticed what befalled them without delay moved to action. If you go through our bible reading today, you may discover that prompt action by David and his men helped them to recover back everything that were taken from them by the enemies.

My beloved, you need to understand that the enemies of your life has no final say on issues concerning yourlife. Yes! They may take everything you ever laboured for. Yes they may cause you heart Break; Yes they may steal your joy and cause you tears and sorrow. All those things they took away are not perminently lost, they can be recovered since there is no life lost.

There are things in your life you may think are already a lost and forgotten and you held precious all of a sudden you loose them like a good job opportunity, love affairs or anything dare to you. Alas!! God has the key of replacement since there is life you surely will recover all only if you believe and ready to pursue surely you will over take and recover all.

In verse 4, the bible says that David and his men became distress and wept until they had no more strength to weep . When you lose what you have or you fail to accomplish a desired goal or fail to meet up with your aspirations, I know it could be painful and may irritate you or cause you to be distress to the point of weeping. There is nothing wrong with your shedding tears , it is normal and natural but do not let that control you.

David actually cried yet it did not end there. He still was wise enough to have remembered to go to God for inquiring and God answered him and assured him of victory , immediately moved to action and became alive to his responsibility as the leader of the group. David wasn\’t discouraged about their lost even when he was threatened, he refused to allow that distract his motives.

This year 2020, is the year of Repositioning to a greater heights of relevance. You must be proactive at all times. Be alert and action ready in other to pursue and recover all that the enemy may want to denial or deprive you. The enemies at all time are lurking around seeking your loophole and waiting for you to make mistake and leave your place unguided so that he can attack and steal from you or your family. The major key note here is to prepare to inquire of the LORD.

Make it a habit to daily seek God\’s face always. God already has provided all that we need to win all battles of life but the strategies for your warfare can only come when you are active in doing an action and in trusting God by seeking His face first before you begin to pursue. This year, l pray that as we pursue in our daily life may God help us to OVER TAKE AND RECOVER ALL in Jesus name ✍️️BlessingOnugha ❤️
