WAIT PATIENTLY ON THE LORD.

THE LORD IS GOOD TO THOSE WHO WAIT ON HIM AND TO THE PERSON WHO SEEK HIM. [Lamentation 3:25]

What does it mean to wait on the lord ?

If you have ever experience a storm of life and you think you have gone through everything to handle your challenges to the best of what you think you can do to handle it yourself to fixe your situations and none was able to solve your problems. Then you will understand the import of waiting patiently on the LORD.

To Wait means To be at ease in confident expectation that solution to your problem is at hand by Faith , even when you have not seen any sign of the solution coming but you are sure that something definitely is about to happen

King David in psalm 40: 1-3 says “I waited patiently for the Lord and He inclined unto Me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit , out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock and established My goings

And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God . Many shall see it and fear , and shall trust in the LORD.

To wait has a lot of gains at the end of your waiting season because there is reward for every obedient to the word of God. The Bible says in Isaiah 40:31.

“But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength , they shall mount up with wings as eagles ; they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint”.

At times when you have this protracted gnawing challenges, it may be hard waiting on the Lord for too long without growing weary , impatient or losing faith during the waiting season But if you’re sensitive in your spirit you may hear a voice that may say “BE STILL” In that case just be still and wait on the LORD and know that He is God. He want you to be still and watch Him go into action.

While waiting, you must persevere else any wrong move will count against you. This was in the case of king Saul during the war between Israelites and the Philistines and the Bible recorded that Prophet Samuel instructed Saul to tarry for seven days when Samuel must have carried out some sacrifices unto the Lord at Gilgal but incidentally Samuel did not come till after 7 days.

“And Saul said, bring hither a burnt offering to me and the peace offerings. And He offered the burnt offering

And it came to pass , that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering behold Samuel came and Saul went out to meet him that he might salute him.

And Samuel said , what hast thou done? and Saul said , because I saw that the people were scattered from me , and that thou camest not within the days appointed , and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash;

Therefore said I, the Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal and I have not made Supplication unto the LORD I forced myself therefore and offered a burnt offering”. [1 Samuel13:9-12] KJV.

For every action there are consequences, due to impatience king Saul could not wait for the high priest and the seer to come and make sacrifices and to enquire from the LORD their GOD according to Israelites tradition before they face their enemies in war times as such his reward was not what he bargained for instance Samuel said to Saul, “thou hast done foolishly . Thou hast not kept the commandment of the Lord thy Good , which He commanded thee, For now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever

But now thy kingdom shall not continue the LORD hath sought him another man after His own heart and the LORD hath commanded him to be a captain over his people because thou hath not kept that which the LORD commanded thee. [1 Samuel 13: 13-14]. KJV

If there is something very dear to our heart that we may desire and wish to have yet it looks as though it is very difficult to acquire as urgently as we may need it. Wait patiently. Our attitude while waiting matters a lot and that goes a long way in influencing how we go about getting it.

John 16: 24 says “until now you have not asked nothing in my name . Ask and you will receive , that your joy may be full”. (ESV)

What it means while waiting, make it your duty to constantly remind God and let your supplications be made known to HIM . In Matthew 7:7. “Ask and it shall be given to you ; seek and you will find ; knock and it will be opened to you.

You must consistently knock at the heavenly door until you receive an answer to open door.

It happened in the days of Daniel when he set out to pray concerning a particular issue and God answered him from the said first day but something went wrong. He did not receive the answer to his prayers which prompted his continuing for 21 days, he was informed by angel Micheal that his prayers were answered right from the first time he prayed. But the prince of Persia blocked and withheld the angel who was sent to return the answer to his prayers and delayed it from getting to him. (Daniel 10:12-13).

“Let us not be weary in well doing for in due season we shall reap , if we faint not” [Galatians 6:9].

Yeah! most times you feel you have challenges that refuses to bow to your pressure of wanting to solve it, please do not seek worldly intervention in a crooked way else you complicate your matter and get worse and don’t allow yourself to be debased and make you comprise your faith , the psalmist say

“ WAIT ON THE LORD; Be of good Courage And He shall Strengthen Thine Heart : WAIT I say on the LORD. (Psalm 27:14).
