LIKE BEGETS LIKE

MATTHEW 7:16-18.

Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
Even so every good tree bringeth forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.

After God created the heavens and the earth, He established some laws and principles to guide their operations and determine the course of everything in creation. Some of these laws are stated specifically in the Bible while some are implied. Humanity has identified some of these laws and has captured many of them as adages and proverbs such as: Whatever goes up must come down, The wages of sin is death.

Whatever you sow, you shall reap, Givers never lack, Like begets like and so on. These laws and principles are universal and quite consistent. Indeed, anything that goes up will surely come down, and like usually begets like in that children typically inherit the qualities and features of their ancestors. This principles are  clearly high lighted in our today\’s Bible reading.

It is an established fact that a parents character is often replicated in his/her children.
However, this principle is not immutable because good fathers sometimes have bad  children and bad fathers may end up having good children.     This is where molding of character is key now in a society where values of life style and it\’s implications becomes key in our daily living mostly in keeping up with relationships.  

   The question now is who do you mengle with or who is your friend. Children are not raise in the same way even under the same circumstances yet you find out that behavioural patterns exhibited differs because of the kind of character we allow to control our initiatives.

There is what is called a bud drafting of fruit trees by inserting  single bud from a desirable plant into an opening in the bark of a compatible rootstock to create advantageous variety fruit, I learned this as an agric student many  years back.

Evil communication corrupt good manners the Bible says. You may have a very good family base but the moment you\’re considered a desirable plant by satan, he begins to insert unknown ideas which is not part of the original rootstock and it makes you very compatible to be drafted into producing variety of fruit different from what  you\’re intended to bear from onset

Resist the devil it will flee. The Bible says watch and pray for the enemy our adversary is like a roaring lion seeking for who to devour.
We have to be very careful on who is our friend and the kind of relationships our children keep too to nurture them in the fear and love of God, so that they will not be of bad influence to the family.  Prov.22.6 – Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it and in Prov.23.24 – The father of the righteous shall greatly rejoice: and he that begetteth a wise child shall have joy of him.

2Cor.6.14 – Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

Whenever you find yourself in any relationship watch out if both of you have certain thing that will attract each other or repel the other so that you don\’t become a tool in the hands of the enemy.
