Mark 5:25-29
And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years,
And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse,
When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment.
For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole.
And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague.
This woman had every reason to feel hopeless. For twelve years, she had done everything possible to stop her hemorrhage, She had gone to several physicians and tried their cures. In the process, she “had spent all that she had,” but nothing worked. Instead of getting better, she “rather had grown worse.”
But she had a spark of hope when she heard about Jesus. She sought Him out, working her way through the throng until she could touch His cloak. She had the faith to believe that “if I just touch His garments, I will get well.” Her faith was rewarded, and instantly she was healed.
Yesterday women all over the world was celebrated for their perseverance and persistence in bringing hope to hopeless situation and building bridges across the nation building and mending fences for better growth of both the economy and the economic impact on the people. I am using this period to celebrate all our women achievers irrespective of the hurdles they need to cross before they get to their set goals.
It takes a woman of Faith and of strong character to withstand challenges and still hold high her head despite criticism, she keep on pushing through the throng to break the glass ceiling in other to achieve the impossible and the unimaginable thing in the society.
Women have done great both in the bible time and the Women of NOW. According to our bible reading this woman had suffered a lot in the hands of medical personels wasting her hard earned resources yet it looked as if either no solutions to her predicament or solution will be very far of being a reality but she wasn\’t deterred, she continued in perseverance without yeilding to presure
This woman suffered a lot of neglect and refusal considering the tradition where people who suffers relegation due to their circumstances are isolated or disadvantaged not to attend to their potentials, but she pushed aside all their resentment to reach her goals which was to be free from her plague. She believed and contemplated it that her mockers, distractors and the society\’s norm will not stop her dream.
Before she left her house when she heard that our HEALER, RESTORER OF HOPE AND OUR SAVOUR JESUS CHRIST was around her neighborhood. she encouraged herself and said “if I just touch His garments, I will get well.” that was all that matters to her not the imposition of any band or restrictions nor segregation will stop her from changing her world.
Most women are like our woman with issue of blood who despite their being refused, condemned and had done everything to overcome societal abuse just because of gender discrimination but refused to give in to inordinate treatment meant out for them and have overcome their affliction to stand taller by the time they stand shoulder to shoulder with the menfolks keeping fate and looking onto Jesus the Author And Finisher of their faith
Did God not say When it shall come to pass He will pour out His Spirit to everyone irrespective of Sex. “And it shall come to pass afterward That I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your old men shall dream dreams, Your young men shall see visions\” (Joel 2:28). NKJV.
This shows that God\’s grace is upon everyone to manifest according to the abilities that lies on him/her not according to your gender. The International Day for Women is very remarkable. It is the day women are celebrated and the entire world is reminded of the fact that it is no longer tolerable any more for any form of violence and any form of discrimination against women should be encouraged. Seing that A woman has the most unique character like Salt, her presence is never remembered but her absence makes all the things tasteless.
Recounting the achievements of women so far in nation building, are mind blowing and I dolf my hat for our great women of substance and entire women all over the world including the girl child who will be the mother of a greater future.
CONGRATULATIONS AND HAPPY WOMEN\’S DAY.
