KEEP THE RIGHT FOCUS.

Mark 10:46-51. NIV

46 :Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.

47 :When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 :Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 :Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.” So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.”

50 :Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51 :“What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him. The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

Keep the right focus, it is the secret of overcomers.

Focus as is defined is, 1(a) : a center of activity, attraction, or attention. ( b) : a point of concentration. 2 : directed attention; In our reading today, Blind Bartimaeus point of concentration was on Jesus Son Of David to get His attention towards his affliction. No wonder he was not bothered or concerned about the shouting down of the crowd who in the actual sense have nothing to offer him and their major reason (s) for following Jesus also was to get His attention towards them for help too.

He got focused on the main Subject matter not on the peripheries which is of no substance to him. He refused to be intimidated considering the fact that He was not seeing, what he knew was that his voice must be heard so he relayed on his vocal capability. He was not discouraged or recoiled to self pity by imagination of his thought for the fact that the crowd were many as such Jesus may not have time for his kind of person who may be physically impaired and may not have anything to do with the Lord\’s ministry. He just refused to be silent.

At times these are the things that hinders us in trying to justify our not being able to \”get it done\” we complained even when we are at the verge of the miracle we had waited for so long like the man by the pool side, the sheep market pool called in Hebrew tongue Bethesda a certain man who had been afflicted and was bed ridden for 38 frustrating years waiting to grab his miracle of healing yet that eventful day of Jesus passing through Jerusalem by the pool side He Saw great number of afflicted and rejected people lying there waiting for the stiring up of water by the Holy Spirit for any one who gets in contact with the water will be healed of whatever diseases or infirmities that afflicted him or her.

But that fateful day a certain man, the scripture says had been hopelessly laid there, Dejected, Rejected, Frustrated and had given up on his life just hanging on and counting days to his grave; he was opportuned to see Jesus came close to asked of his well fare instead of jumping up with the little strength left on him and tap into the rare opportunity he decided to tell stories.

\”For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me . Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk\” (John 5:4-8) KJV.

While some people are breaking new ground and making history, some are broken down and history is made of them , It is the real life situations we find ourselves. The common denomination here is Jesus Christ for both the Blind Bartimaeus and The Rejected afflicted man by the pool side each one got what he got differently due to the capacity in them and according to His Compassionate move based on their faith and generated focus.

You Remember the woman with the issue of blood for 12 years? The scripture says \”And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:
For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.
But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour\” (Matthew 9:20-22) KJV.

The bible said that she already had nursed it in her mind that if only she can touch the hem of His garment, her miracle will be assured , Hallelujah!!!. Just imagine the power of Thoughts. I supposed, focus and thought should go side by side because where your thought is, likely that\’s where your focus will be. \”Keep your heart with all diligence for out of it spring the issues of life\”. (Proverbs 4,:23). In a man\’s heart, he plans his course but the Lord directs his step.

What we focus on goes a very long way in determining the actualization of what we want in life. Right focus is a key that can open doors of impossibilities. Be focused and don\’t allow your environment or people around you to distract you from your base though it may take time, keep on moving towards the mark.
