ABUSIVE LANGUAGE.

Ephesians 4:29 NIV

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Do not use abusive language, Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them and will build them up. In James 3:8; “No human being can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full of deadly poison” How much evil committed with our tongue because we cannot keep our mouth closed will not be measured.

And I tell you that on the Judgment Day people will be responsible for every careless thing they have said. The words you have said will be used to judge you. Some of your words will prove you right, but some of your words will prove you guilty.”

Whenever you are tempted to say something unwholesome or unkind, you must think aback. When we are hurting, angry, or frustrated, it is tempting to let corrupt words come from our mouths. Instead, we should strive to speak only words that uplift and bless others. Before you speak, consider if the words that you are preparing to speak are edifying or corrupt. Do they extend grace to those listening or do they injure their feelings? God\’s Word tells us that what comes out of our mouths is a reflection of our hearts. Let our words point others to Jesus Christ.

God really cares about what we say. Jesus, was once accused of being unclean because of eating with unwashed hands, He said to them that it was not what went into a person that made them unclean, but rather what came out (Matthew 7:15) . In other words, when a person speaks evil, they are tainted by their own words. On the one hand, you might say that the mouth speaks what is already in the heart, but it is true that when there is a sinful thought, going ahead and saying is actually a verification of the sin in the heart.

I know of indeed it is easy to allow corrupt words to pass through our mouths when we are angered or abused, Infact if you don\’t hold yourself and allow the Spirit of God to take control over your temperament, one is bound to loose self control . It is pertinent to always pray to God for self control whenever you are tempted to get angry so that you will overcome the battle of the temptation to fight back when the tempo is high , in order not to use any idle or abusive words .

May our words reflect our hearts, O Lord. Help us to use words that is edifying and can bless others rather than wound them. Please purify our minds and hearts so that our words will be a true reflection of You O Lord. It is only because of Your son Jesus Christ and your grace that we can overcome every struggles of sin in our lives in Jesus Name Amen.
