RECONCILIATION

2Corinthians 5:18-21 NKJV.

18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation.

20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. 21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

God brings us back to Himself by blotting out our sins and making us right with Him the moment our trust is in Christ. \”But now in Christ Jesus, you who were far away from God are brought near through the blood of Christ’s death. 14 Christ himself is our peace. He made both Jewish people and those who are not Jews one people. They were separated as if there were a wall between them, but Christ broke down that wall of hate by giving his own body\”. (Ephesians 2:13-14)

Christ has given us the task of reconciliation, bringing people back to God by leading them to Christ to become a recreated man filled with the holy spirit. God no longer count on our sins as you become a new born in Christ then you are made Christ Ambassador with God making His appeal through mankind when we bring man that has derailed back to God.

Reconciliation literally means to change completely. In the book of Colossians 1:20, the Bible states that sinners are alienated from God and becomes enemies in their minds by wicked works, yet God has provided reconciliation with man through Jesus Christ. \”And through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood shed on the cross\”

Already the message of Reconciliation brings about a change of heart through God\’s mercy and forgiveness. Reconciliation also known as Confession or Penance is a sacrament instituted by Jesus Christ in His love and mercy to offer sinners forgiveness for offenses committed against God.

Christ has destroyed all the barriers people pile up against themselves in discriminating amongst each other since the walls of limitations have been removed and we have been reunited therefore we can have access to God our Father by the power of Holy ghost, we are no more strangers before God, we all are being built into a holy Temple with Christ as our chief cornerstone.

In Reconciliation, we acknowledge our sins before God and the Church. We express our sorrow in a meaningful way, receiving forgiveness of Christ and His Church, make reparation for what we have done, and resolve to do better in the future.

The psalmist says \”My sacrifice [the sacrifice acceptable] to God is a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart [broken down with sorrow for sin and humbly and thoroughly penitent], such, O God, You will not despise\”.

God said to prophet Hosea to tell the erring Israelites That \”I will plant her for myself in the land; I will show my love to the one I called ‘Not my loved one.’ I will say to those called ‘Not my people,’ ‘You are my people’; and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”

In this circumstance God is referring to us that He no longer considers our past records we need to come back to Him for He had made peace with us through the death of His only begotten son Jesus Christ on the cross. We are not in any way forsaken for He has made us an Ambassador through Christ to spreed the message of Reconciling men to Himself.

Since we have been forgiven, Christ is calling on us to also forgive others when they wronged us so that we will not on our own making erect a wall of HINDERANCE in reaching out to God in time of difficulties.

The season we are now, we are entering Christmas season where Christians all over celebrate The Birth Of Jesus Christ. Is a very important, renewing and refreshing moments. Use most of this good time for reflection and for Reconciliation. Having to put up with people no matter how much pains you think you have suffered in the hands of those who never wish you well. Yes! It has become a tradition that people use that period to show case their newly acquired affluence and time to wine and dine with friends and relations and make merry by showing off
