BE THE LIGHT THAT SHINES OUT OF DARKNESS.

2 Corinthians 4:3-6. NCBV.

3 If the Good News that we preach is hidden, it is hidden only to those who are lost. 4 The devil who rules this world has blinded the minds of those who do not believe. They cannot see the light of the Good News—the Good News about the glory of Christ, who is exactly like God. 5 We do not preach about ourselves, but we preach that Jesus Christ is Lord and that we are your servants for Jesus. 6 God once said, “Let the light shine out of the darkness!” This is the same God who made his light shine in our hearts by letting us know the glory of God that is in the face of Christ.

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5: 14-16.

Scripturally speaking light connotes the symbol of holiness, goodness, knowledge, wisdom, grace, hope, and God\’s revelation. But by contrast, darkness has been associated with evil, sin, and despair in the live of people. As such you have to be a light that lightens up wherever you find yourself.

Remember being a light is not only in your church where we worship because He did not call us to be light of the church rather light of the world, your physical contact within your reach. In concrete reality, being a light may be caring for someone despite their flaws. It may mean helping people through situations they do not know how to overcome, it could be empowering others to overcome whatever they are facing. It could be holding someone\’s hand so they can feel loveed and know it to be real not in manipulating the vulnerable in pretence of love.

When the scripture says Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Means be a symbol of light, educating them that has no knowledge of God and give hope to them that are despaired and encourage those who are down cast in spirit with the word of the wisdom of God.

Jesus tells us to be a visible light in a darkened world, that was why After calling us to be “The light of the world”, He went further to explained that \”A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. You should not be hidden under any form of coverage making sure you\’re known by the things you do.

Jesus said to His Disciples \”We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work\” John 9:4. Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for the people. You know that you will receive an inheritance as a reward from the Lord.

PRAYER

Thank you Jesus for you are Light of Life and through your light we can see light. Thank you for the called to be light not only in our houses, not only in the cities where we live, not only in our country but to be a light of the world. Grant us the grace to lighten up every form of darkness in our midst not shying away from the work we are called to do in Jesus name amen.

REFLECTION

“You Are The Light Of The World” This is one of those exciting statements that should encourage us to rejoice about every situation we face in this world. For If we are the light of the world in reality, then we must be “In The Light” ourselves. It is a glorious thing to be living in the light, and not groping in darkness.

  1. Powerful words. I especially like what you said that we are not called to shine our light in the church but the world. Many Christians seems to think that only in the church building that they need to demonstrate love and holiness. But as you said our righteous character must be shown to a dark world who needs salvation. Thanks for sharing this encouraging word. I hope you will have a blessed week.
