YOU MUST CONTINUE IN PRAYERS.

Acts 1:12-14.   NCBV.

12 Then they went back to Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives. (This mountain is about half a mile from Jerusalem.) 13 When they entered the city, they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. Peter, John, James, Andrew, Philip, Thomas, Bartholomew, Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon (known as the Zealot), and Judas son of James were there. 14 They all continued praying together with some women, including Mary the mother of Jesus, and Jesus’ brothers.

After Jesus ascended into Heaven, the disciples had many concerns. An entrenched religious establishment dominated the culture around them, and Rome provided strict political and military controls. What was this small group of believers to do?

Since they were faced with these uncertainties, they turned to prayers and continued in such. But this was not casual yet very informal prayers. They prayed constantly, this was persistent kind of prayers. Being zealous and determined to came out of the usual life style that people were used to. They prayed for wisdom. For breakthroughs and for God’s directions.

Their hearts and minds were united. There was no rivalry or competition amongst the People. All through their stay at a place people joined almost like a community participatory exercise. Both men and women prayed. People from every background prayed fervently.

In the days that followed this season of consistent prayers, the world was turned upside down. The Holy Spirit fell upon them to empower them. Miracles took place. Thousands were saved. The church was born, and the Gospel was spread throughout the world.

1 Now when the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place. 2 Suddenly a sound like a violent wind blowing came from heaven and filled the entire house where they were sitting. 3 And tongues spreading out like a fire appeared to them and came to rest on each one of them. 4 All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak in other languages as the Spirit enabled them. (Acts 2:1-4).

We can feel a sense of despair and hopelessness. Our challenges may seem too many and overwhelming. But the Bible reminds us that God has not changed. He is the same Yesterday, Today and Evermore. We have access to the same Holy Spirit that changed the first-century world. We have the same opportunity to pray and seek God for our needs and challenges and be victorious. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.

\”And they have overcome (conquered) him by means of the blood of the Lamb and by the utterance of their testimony, for they did not love and cling to life even when faced with death [holding their lives cheap till they had to die for their witnessing]. (Revelation 12:11) AMP.

Today as you face uncertainties and problems, you too can turn to prayers. As much as possible, pray “with one accord” with other believers. Be bold with fervent spirit, praying in faith both in season and out of season. Then watch and see how God answers your prayers with miracles following you.

\”This is what the LORD says to you: `Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God\’s\”. Sometimes you don\’t need to fight in all battles as they come, at times learn to keep your cool and allow God to level all your mountains.

PRAYER
My Father, my God. Your Grace has qualified us to seek You when we can find You. We are in perilous time, confusion here and there, commotions, wars and rumours of wars almost everywhere. Some nations are almost faced with hyper inflation while some are dying for lack of decent food and medicare. People are faced with terrible uncertainties. But this is the confidence we have that when we pray according to your Will you hear us. Your thought towards us according to your words in Jeremiah 29:11 is this, because I know what I am planning for you,” says the Lord. “I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future\”. Father please grant us victory over all uncertainties and indure us with Your Holy Spirit to enable us overcome our challenges in Jesus name amen.

REFLECTION

You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the LORD, who is with you.” 2Chronicles 20:17 Sometimes God may tell you the best strategy to win the battle you are facing is to be still.
