SIGNIFICANCE OF GOOD FRIDAY.

Mark 15:42-46. NCBV.

42 This was Preparation Day. (That means the day before the Sabbath day.) That evening, 43 Joseph from Arimathea was brave enough to go to Pilate and ask for Jesus’ body. Joseph, an important member of the Jewish council, was one of the people who was waiting for the kingdom of God to come. 44 Pilate was amazed that Jesus would have already died, so he called the army officer who had guarded Jesus and asked him if Jesus had already died. 45 The officer told Pilate that he was dead, so Pilate told Joseph he could have the body. 46 Joseph bought some linen cloth, took the body down from the cross, and wrapped it in the linen. He put the body in a tomb that was cut out of a wall of rock. Then he rolled a very large stone to block the entrance of the tomb.

As we approach Easter Sunday, we take time to reflect on the significance of Good Friday – the day when Jesus Christ sacrificed his life on the cross for our sins. It is a day of deep reflection and remembrance, and a time to appreciate the ultimate sacrifice that was made for us that brought salvation to us.

On this solemn occasion, I want to wish you and your loved ones a blessed and peaceful Good Friday. May you find comfort and strength in the knowledge that you are loved and cherished by God, and may you find inspiration in the spirit of sacrifice and selflessness which today GOOD FRIDAY represents.

In the midst of the challenges and uncertainties that we face today, let us take solace in the message of hope and renewal that Easter brings. May this season fill your heart with joy, peace, and the promise of new beginning.

PRAYER

Lord Jesus Christ, you took my place of sin and shame for the love you have for me even when I do not merit it. You died on the cross to reconcile me back to God, I am grateful to you, the blood you shed has cleans us of all unrighteous, the chastisement of our peace was upon you and by your strips we are healed. Thank you so much for saving us, l pray for grace to love you back selflessly in Jesus name Amen

REFLECTION

We can respond to the Lords’ great love for us, by receiving it and returning it. The only way to be able to receive the Lord’s love and wisdom is to first remove evil within us. This is why the Holy supper which symbolized and corresponds to receiving those gifts from the Lord is a sacrament of repentance. We can experience a greater closeness to the Lord after going through a process of repentance, when we begin a new life in Him.
