REAPING WHAT YOU SOW.

Galatians 6:6-9. NKJV.

6 Let him who is taught the word share in all good things with him who teaches.

7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap. 8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life. 9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

The saying \”REAPING WHAT YOU SOW\” means that if you plant seeds or do something good, you should expect to reap rewards later. For example, if you plant a garden, you might get some vegetables from it. If you give help to someone, you might get help in your time of need.

Reaping what one sows can both be positive and negative. The scripture says if you sow to the flesh, you will through the flesh reap condemnation; But if you are faithful and sow to the Spirit you will reap eternal life.

What kind of seed are you sowing? In the Bible, we see the principle of sowing and reaping. Our thoughts, actions, words, work, hobbies and habits are all seeds. If You plant pumpkin seeds, you must get pumpkin fruits. We cannot get a tomato from a pumpkin seed and in the same way, we cannot reap God’s blessings when we are planting sinful habits or when we have fallen short of His glory.

Jesus told the people \”You reap where you did not sow and gather where you did not scatter” what it then means is that anybody who does that must be either a thief or a Hired labourer who came on invitation to cultivate that which he did not plant or a divine provisions. In 2 Corinthians 9:6-7, “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously\”

Consider the book of Hosea when God was angry with the Israelites due to their disobedience. The Children of Israel sought fulfillment and momentary thrills over seeking God and waiting patiently. Just like trying to
strik a match that goes out quickly. Yes Israel was striking matches over and over trying to create their own excitement and joy in life rather than being satisfied with God and God says of Israel in Hosea 8:7

For they sow the wind,
and they shall reap the whirlwind.

Israel had been unfaithful to God and rejected Him and replaced him with pagan idols. God warned them but they refused to listen and continued to sow to the wind. The sowing was slow over many years, but when God’s judgement came, it was swift – like a whirlwind.

Many do not realize the consequences of their actions until they begin to chase shadows and start playing blame games.

In practical terms, the Bible teaches that each of us is given unique resources, abilities, and opportunities. Some take advantage of those opportunities and invest their time and resources while others fail to invest what God has given them. They are like the students who did as little as possible during school session and came out with nothing to show. Or the prodigal son who “wasted his possessions” and squandered his opportunities (Luke 15:13).

Remember that you will reap whatever you sow. God looks to see what you will do. What will you sow? The choice is up to you.

PRAYER
Our Father and Our Lord, please help us to take advantage of all the opportunities You have made available unto us and use them wisely. Please God help us to sow rightly so that we shall bear bumper fruits to reap adequately right so as to sow into Your Kingdom. Thank You for an abundant harvest. In Jesus’ name, amen.

REFLECTION
Divine discipline follows the law of sowing and reaping. If we sow bad decisions in our lives, we will suffer. Sometimes we might be tempted to think that we can get away with doing wrong, but God always sees and knows. Eventually, it does catch up with us.
