WHERE LIES YOUR CONFIDENCE

Hebrew 11:9-10 AMP.

9 [Prompted] by faith he dwelt as a temporary resident in the land which was designated in the promise [of God, though he was like a stranger] in a strange country, living in tents with Isaac and Jacob, fellow heirs with him of the same promise. 10 For he was [waiting expectantly and confidently] looking forward to the city which has fixed and firm foundations, whose Architect and Builder is God.

Abraham left his home, his family and everything that was familiar and comfortable to him when God Called him to leave and he left. \”By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place that he was to receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going\”. (Hebrew 11:8).

He moved in obedient, went in search of a city that is built on a solid foundations. An international news analyst once said about the city of Venice, Italy is sinking about an inch each year because of its murky foundation. Before he was called out of his city of Ur where he had lived there was no such evident of foundational problem but Abraham had faith to see that any place or people that are not build or structured on a solid foundation of God\’s teachings and God\’s character is bound to sink.

Therefore Abraham traded the emotional and physical stability of his hometown for the Spiritual and eternal foundation of God\’s Will and working , He wanted above all things for his life to be built and shaped by God.

Where lies your faith ? On what is your confidence resting on? Do you hold on to and trust in your familiar surroundings or perhaps your Wealth, or may be your family security? Or you are looking up to God and building your life according to His words and His leading everyday of your life. Nothing is more solid than God\’s promises, No one can build a city or shape a life better than God. Some trust in chariots, others in horses, but we trust the Lord our God.

Jesus elaborated in the parable of a Wise and a Foolish builder in Matthew 7:24-25 \”Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock\”.

When your foundation is built in a murky sand, No other thing stands on it because it is shaky already and cannot hold anything on top of it. So is our life trajectory if by choice or default you derail in your faith to adhere and trust in the Lord for direction in obedient to His words, Your Choice and the consequences you may not tell it all.

And he said to man, `The fear of the Lord–that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding\”.

PRAYER

Dear Lord and Father, thank you for your word which is Yea and Amen and does not fail indeed. Definitely, we had the sentence of death within ourselves so that we would not trust in ourselves, but in God who raises the dead. Our father please give us grace to obey you and walk in the light of your words in Jesus name Amen.

REFLECTION

Therefore do not throw away your confidence, which has a great reward.
