John 5:5-6 AMP.
There was a certain man there who had suffered with a deep-seated and lingering disorder for thirty-eight years. When Jesus noticed him lying there [helpless], knowing that he had already been a long time in that condition, He said to him, Do you want to become well? [Are you really in earnest about getting well?].
Jesus came to the pool of Bethesda where many sick folks are lying wait to be healed by jumping into the pool any moment an angle enters into it to stir up the water. A certain man with infirmities lying their for 38 years crippled and hopeless was in their midst Jesus Christ came along the pool and met with this man perhaps seeing the hopelessness in this man He asked “DO YOU WANT TO GET WELL?
Ordinarily one would have expected Him to swing into the action of healing or miracle of making him well seeing his terrible condition or better put may asked the man do you want a change in your situation. However the sick man’s reaction on its own was surprised; one would have expected him to come up with an obvious YES!! Rather he went into Big story telling
“The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.”
Do you know that some of us are like that sick man at the side of the pool of Bethesda. The man had given up on his situation and even when help comes he wants to justify why his situation was that critical as such tied up himself into being a victim of his circumstances so no need for a change (May be that’s how God want it). Some may even say their condition can not change again, it has been like that for donkey years and I have tried solving it no avail.
May be discouraged by people who keeps on telling him you will never get better since for a very long time now you have remain that way. No need to try anything.
Have you been living with a deep down bitterness in your heart for all your life, may be with Unforgiveness, Hatred, Envy, Jealousy and you think you were made that way and nothing you can be done about it? That’s the lie from the pit of hell. Jesus is around the corner asking You DO YOU NEED TO GET WELL? or DO YOU NEED A CHANGE ?
Getting well sometimes isn’t an easy choice more so when you think healing might stir up a painful emotions. At times you feel is easier to remain with such pains than trying to seek for a change that you cannot dear.
Friends, what is it that is hurting you? What is your long run disease that has overwhelmed you? Is it bitterness, anger, Unforgiveness, depression or financial distress or are you enslaved to a sort of an addiction? Or perhaps suffering from a failed relationship? Jesus is asking you Do you want to get well? Jesus the healer of our souls and of all kinds of diseases is at the corner of your life asking Do you want to get well. No Rhetorics!! What well your answer be.
PRAYER
Jesus christ, son of most High God please make me whole. I need your healing all around me help me to overcome my fears and my ineptness and forgive all my stubbornness I pray. Amen.
REFLECTION
Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.
Don’t talk yourself down in the state of your condition make room for good reasoning and be alert to a good consciousness. Allow Jesus to Heal You.
