Micah 4:10.
\”Writhe and labor to give birth, daughter of zion like a woman in child birth for now you will go out of the city , dwell in the field And go to Babylon, there you will be rescued; there the Lord will redeem you from the hand of your enemies\”.
Today\’s writing is not as usual . However, today reminds me of 25 years ago precisely when I was delivered of a bouncing baby boy , very cute and very beautiful. I remember I started experiencing what seems to be like labor pain but very unusual feeling about 10days earlier in my womb, very uneasy pain but not the disturbing one that any expectant mom may term labor pains. Before then, it was revealed in the church in one of our prayer sessions that I may have a terrible experience either before the birth of my baby or after the birth of my baby.
First of all, my baby may die in the process or I die after given birth. That particular day my sister was worried and shocked. We started fasting and praying. My sister was a member of EFAC, a prayer group in Anglican communion church in lagos state, Nigeria. In one of their programs , praying and fasting week, it was revealed that there was death omen lurking around her, that there was sound of cries and sorrows. She was asked if any of her relations was pregnant and she said yes!, her elder sister which actually was confirmation of what I was told.
Whatever that meant, we launched out war against satanic attacks by committing ourselves into full fledged praying and fasting even as a heavily pregnant woman I was strengthened to partook in that, at a point I was advised to stop rather should urge my husband to help and fast for me. I told him one of the days he laughed and asked if I believed in such prophesies that he was indisposed to join in such because he was traveling out of lagos, behold he did travelled.
I remembered vividly , he travelled on 2nd of November in the morning hours. At night I started feeling differently from the previous times of my pains. I felt a very sharp pain as if there was a vigorous kick and movement down my abdomen, I told my sister about my experience and informed her that I would like to pack my lugage and the baby\’s things which had been purchased already because I had several days gone well over my DD date.
\”Therefore, He will give them up until the time when she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder of his brethren will return to the sons of Israel\”. (Micah 5:3).
However as God may have it, we prayed fervently that night I was able to sleep well all through the night till the next morning. The next day on 3rd of November around 8 o\’clock in the morning, I couldn\’t wait for the driver or my sister to get ready I had already dressed up picked my things and the baby\’s inside the car and drove my self to the hospital because I was not feeling all that bad that I couldn\’t drove myself all the way from yaba area of main land lagos to Victoria island lagos Nigeria, Osage\’s hospital where I had registered for my antenatal. I got there around 9 am and was admitted immediate, in about 1hour 30 minutes under observation by the nurse my labor started and my water bag broken, I was wheeled to the labor theater and was prepared.
\”As the pregnant woman approaches the time to give birth, she writhes and cries out in her labor pains\” (Isaiah 26:17)
My baby\’s head wasn\’t caming out I had severally tried pushing nothing, I was tired and couldn\’t go with the nurses and doctors leading I begged the doctor to operate on me when the pain was getting unbearable. Out there intermittently I heard the voice of my sister Okwui prayering and her pacing at the corrider. At about 5 30 pm God Almighty heard our prayers and supplications I was delievered of a bouncing cute and very beautiful baby boy weighed 2.8 kg. I prayed and sang to the glory of God. My husband came back after his 2days journey and was happy to see us in good health.
\” Whenever a woman is in labor she has pains because her hour has come but when she gives birth to the child she nolonger remember the anguish because of the joy that a child has been born into the world\” (John 16:21).
Yes! Indeed the Lord redeemed me from the hands of the enemies. That fateful day I knew it can only be God. Lamentation 3:22-24 says
\”Through the Lord\’s mercies we are not consumed because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my \”portion\” says my soul, therefore I hope in Him\”.
