REJOICE NOT MY ENEMY.

Micah 7:8

\” Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me\”.

\"\"

Do not rejoice when your enemy fails and do not let your heart be glad when you hear something terrible has happen to those who were against you leastwise you will displease the Lord and He will turn around to afflict you

Obadiah 1:10-12

1.10 – For thy violence against thy brother Jacob shame shall cover thee, and thou shalt be cut off for ever.
1.11 – In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his forces, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.
1.12 – But thou shouldest not have looked on the day of thy brother in the day that he became a stranger; neither shouldest thou have rejoiced over the children of Judah in the day of their destruction; neither shouldest thou have spoken proudly in the day of distress.

According to the prophesy of Obadiah , Edom was punished for their indolence against their brothers the Israelites when they were in distress.

When you are going through trails be sober and vigilant and remain in prayers do not allow your pains to make you fight back the enemies in a wrong note knowing too well that in every situation we find ourselves , the Lord knows about it and will not allow your mockers to go scot free because He will reward them according to their deed.

Micah knows whose he was ; that was why he did not allow his afflictions to overwhelm him. He was confident that though he has fallen, sited in darkness but the Lord will be his light.

The same way Paul cried out “We are troubled on every side yet not distress, we are perplexed but not in despair, persecuted but not forsaken, cast down but not destroyed”. (2corinthhians 4:8-9).

Paul was trying to make comparison of all sorts of trials they went through when they were hard pressed by the circumstances they faced in spreading the good news of Jesus Christ yet they were not bothered by all their troubles because their confident was in God Almighty.

When you are in your darkest moment do not despair for the Lord is there with you as your light .

David says in Psalm 23:4 “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for the Lord is with me”.

Proverbs 24:27 says “do not rejoice when your enemy falls and let not your heart be glad”.

We are in the world of make believe, during the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic, the entire world was shaken to its foundation by the adverse effects of these dreaded plagues. The dead tolls were unprecedented most families were worse hit mostly when it affected the bread winners of such families.

Something very painful and sorrowful happened to the family of one of the most influential and powerful citizen of Nigeria, a man of high profile in the presidency who died as a result of coved-19 complications ; some people began to celebrate his death due to his role in governance of the country which they considered HORRIBLE as was reported from vine yard. While people were mourning some were throwing party indeed for the down fall of another.

Whatever may be the case the Bible says “Woe to those who calls evil good and good evil, who substitute darkness for light and light for darkness, that put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes and prudent in their own sight”. (Isaiah 5:20-21).

This is to show that we must not rejoice in iniquity ,Remember that God does not want to see us gloat over the misfortune of others. In 3John 4 “I have no greater joy than this to hear that my Children are walking in the truth” and 1Peter 4:8 pointed out that “keep fervent love in your heart for one another because love covers a multitude of sin”.

When you rejoice in another man’s down fall it will open a can of worm, unnecessarily bad blood and this can lead to gossip even amongst Christian. The essence of gossip is in its own gloating over short comings of another. Ephesians 4:29 declared “Let not unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such word that is good for edification according to the need of the moment that it may give grace to those who hears”.

Basically, it is sin to rejoice and be glad when your enemy is afflicted or suffers set back. Be emphatic for the Bible says “love your enemies, Bless them that Hate you and Pray for them which Despitefully use and persecute you\”. (Matthew 5:44)
