COMFORT OTHERS SUFFERING

2Corinthians 1:3-4. NCBV.

3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is the Father who is full of mercy and all comfort. 4 He comforts us every time we have trouble, so when others have trouble, we can comfort them with the same comfort God gives us.

These days we all go through stressful situations to get life going. We pass through pressures all the time, relationship pressure, family pressure, financial and health pressure weighing heaviely on us almost on daily bases.

Where can we go from here or what do we do on our own to ease our pains or get relief from all our mental concerns. Nothing much than to go to God to cast all our burdens for He cares for us. No wonder Apostle paul in Corinth encouraged the people to praise God our father who is very compassionate and who comforts us whenever we are going through difficult times.

God is really compassionate and at every moment He puts His compassion into action by helping us ease our tension when trouble blows. God orchestrate things to fall into pleasant places for us to comfort us when we are afflicted as such Paul is advising us to comfort those whom you meet on your way passing through difficult times too because you yourself must have known how pressing it is to go through some challenges.

\” ….God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God\”. God wants us as well to go out there and comfort others He will bring on our way.

\”Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing\”. 1Thesselonia 5:11. Anxiety in a man\’s heart weighs him down but a good word makes him glad. proverbs 12:25.

How can we show compassion and mercy when perhaps we do not have what it takes, someone asked? The worth of a man is not necessarily measured by the weight of his physical possessions rather by the quality of the impact he must have created on others. Learn to pray for your neighborhood, pray for those who are facing difficult situations and for the sick, pray and show a little kindness, give gift to deserving person (s) around you, it may be as small as a token yet is a good signal of a caring heart. Smile at people, be appreciative whenever you get kindness from others and be mindful of how to reply others even when they throw unpleasant words at you. There\’s always room for improvement.

\”Now in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver but also of wood and clay, some for honorable use, some for dishonorable. Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work\”. (2Timothy 2:20-21).

We might not have the same disposition because we are not perfect or super human but we can intentionally work on our psyche and inhibition to be a better person. Our reading today wants you to bring your burdens to the Lord, let Him comfort you and when He does so for you , go with the same compassion and comfort others in need.

This is lent period, most christians are observing it by fasting and praying fervently and amending broken relationships. I actually have double my praying life and building my self in the knowledge of the most High God. But incidentally I am not fasting because of ulcer wound. The pains keep me very uncomfortable to concentrate without eating. I pray for quick healing in Jesus name Amen. By God\’s grace I will be better very quickly.

\”For though we walk in the flesh, we are not waging war according to the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds\”. (2Corinthians 10:3-4) ESV.
