EYES NEVER SATISFIES.

Proverbs 27:19-21. ESV.

19 As in water face reflects face, so the heart of man reflects the man. 20 Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied. 21 The crucible is for silver, and the furnace is for gold, and a man is tested by his praise.

Our natural tendency is to desire things we see. The truth is that there never is enough to satisfy our cravings. The Bible tells us that the lust of our eyes is “never satisfied.”For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride of life—is not from the Father but is from the world (1 John 2:16). The more we look, the more we want.

At the same time, the Bible reminds us that we can influence what we see. David realized that what we see influences what we desire and how we spend our time and resources. Realizing this, he decided to exercise control over the things that attracted his fancy, he wrote, “I will set no base or wicked thing before my eyes. I hate the work of them who turn aside [from the right path]; it shall not grasp hold of me. (Psalms 101 :3) AMP.

Be it known to you that you have choices. You can decide what you will look at. You have the option to turn your head, close your eyes, and walk away. You can focus on things that may point you in the wrong direction or toward what is right. Job proclaimed “I Have made a covenant with my eyes; How then could I gaze at a virgin? Lustfully. Job 31:1.

You can determine what you watch, who you listen to, and what you allow into your mind, We are to fill our minds with God’s Word. The Bible encourages us to be proactive with our choices and think about things that are true and noble, just and pure, lovely and of good report.

As a man thinks so he is. Therefore ask God to give you discernment and help you make the right choices that will build you up.

PRAYER
My Father Lord, give me discernment about what I allow into my mind. Help me turn away from temptations and every other distracting elements and focus on that alone which will glorify You. Please heavenly father, Help me to be satisfied by serving You. In Jesus name Amen.

REFLECTION

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
