THE POWER OF HOPE.

Romans 5:1-5. NKJV.

1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only that, but we also glory in tribulations, knowing that tribulation produces perseverance; 4 and perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.

Dictionary meaning of HOPE is a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen. But in the Bible hope is the confident expectation of what God has promised and its strength is in His faithfulness.  Hope is the confident expectation of and longing for the promised blessings of righteousness. The scriptures often speak of hope as anticipation of eternal life through faith in Jesus Christ.

Hope is an optimistic state of mind that is based on an expectation of positive outcomes with respect to events and circumstances in one’s life or the world at large. As a verb, its definitions include: “Expect with Confidence” and “To Cherish a desire with Anticipation”.

The word hope is sometimes misunderstood. In our everyday language, the word often has a hint of uncertainty. When the purpose of a thing is not known abuse is inevitable. The word HOPE has actually been bastardized. For me there are two kinds of Hope; NATURAL HOPE AND SPIRITUAL HOPE.  You see;  when we’re trying to explain to our listener how our hope failed because our expectations or the desire to accomplish something was not met therefore we are disappointed.  That kind of hope is self motivated therefore will shatter. But the Bible says “HOPE DOES NOT FAIL OR DOES NOT DISAPPOINT. If is hope based on man or material things, obviously it must fail for the scripture says  “Cursed is the one who trusts in man, who depends on flesh for his strength and whose heart turns away from the LORD”.  And that is what is called NATURAL HOPE.

Hope is a positive and potent Spiritual practice with the power to pull us through difficult times. It is usually described with  metaphors like  A RAY, A BEAM, A GLIMMER OF HOPE, THE BREAK IN THE CLOUD, THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL. These are discovered in an unexpected places, is a sort of Spirituality.  The strength of your Hope lies on what you depend your Hope on.

Romans 5:5 puts it clear that Such hope never disappoints or deludes or shames us, for God’s love has been poured out in our hearts through the Holy Spirit Who has been given to us. You see if your hope is based on God above,  it can not fail.  Yes you heard me Right Most time we say we are hoping on God for a thing meanwhile our trust is in another means for the hope to be actualize but when finally it did not come as expected we blame God and feel that nothing is working. Is your imagination that’s not working rather than the word that has been prophesied.

In this case HOPE may not be an expectation rather I will say HOPE has an expectation. Yeah, I said earlier that your hope is as strong as the source of your HOPE. That is the strength of your Hope lies on what you relay your Hope on. When your hope is on man the likelihood that it will dash is ultimate and you will be disappointed but when your HOPE is on God even if your expectations are not met according to when you desired it you will still have the confidence that at the right time it shall come to pass and it shall not disappoint.

The scripture told us on how Abraham against hope believed in hope.   “Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been said to him, “So shall your offspring be.” Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was as good as dead–since he was about a hundred years old–and that Sarah’s womb was also dead”.

Abraham does not consider the weakness of his physical body perhaps refuse to think that he  can no longer withstand the rigor of sexual pleasure at that old age nor did he consider the deadness of his wife’s womb who at the very old age will be experiencing the full impact of menopause discomfort also has lost interest of intimacy. But he strongly Hope in God Who had said it.

This is why the fulfillment of God’s promises depends entirely on trusting God and his way, and then simply embracing him and what he does. God’s promise arrives as pure gift.  [The Lord] said, to Abraham, I will surely return to you when the season comes round, and behold, Sarah your wife will have a son.  (Genesis 18:10).

Hope does not disappoint when placed rightly Hope does not put to shame because it has an expectation even when all must have failed it will give you the strategies on how to wait and be patient in persistence for it surely will meet your expectations. We are born into a living Hope, our Hope is not in man but in God who makes all things despite the challenges facing us. When your Hope is in God it will motivate you to reach your goals

Hope helps you to build a successful life style, family or relationship even in business. The anointing you despice can never work for you whatever you do not cherish can’t avail you. Identify where your Hope lies don’t let your expectation blind your reasoning. When your Hope is beyond this worldly sphere, it does not matter what you’re going through and it does not matter how many times you must have tried and failed or how many times you must have fallen you will still get up dust yourself and continue not waiting for anyone to prop you up. Don’t remain on the ground of tribulations. Our Hope must be alive because Christ in us our Hope of Glory.

PRAYER.

My dear God and heavenly Father thank you Lord for the grace to depend on you for all concerns. My hope is build on nothing else than Jesus Christ and His rightousness. I pray according to Proverbs 23:18 For surely there is a latter end [a future and a reward], and our hope and expectation shall not be cut off in Jesus name, Amen.

REFLECTION

Hope Demonstrates Trust in God Forever
To hope in God’s word is to firmly place your trust in what God says. It’s not an, “oh, I hope so,” but rather, “I hope because he said so.” And because He said so believe on Him, Your Hope Shall Not Fail.
